Welcome to Matakana School
Matakana School is located in the heart of Matakana, 50 minutes north of Auckland. It first opened its doors in 1862 with a roll of 29 and at its peak had over 400 students. Today we are a small rural school of 302 students with a highly supportive staff, Board of Trustees, and parent community. We are confident that visitors or new families to the school will find the community at Matakana warm and welcoming.
Matakana has an enthusiastic parent body who support their children’s education by actively fundraising throughout the year. The annual Gala in 2009 raised $48,000 and the 2009 Auction Evening raised $33,000. A group of parents have come together to produce Matakana Flavour, a school cookbook featuring over 100 favourite family recipes. There is a very generous local community that support Matakana School.
