First Lunchtime Swim - November 2011
This was the first planting at our new Trees for Survival project, to renew native bush areas on a local farm, in order to stop erosion and enhance the quality of the Matakana and Mahurangi Rivers. We planted 780 trees on a lovely sunny, calm day in the midst of a rather cold rainy week. Everyone was really impressed with the care, dedication and lovely enthusiasm of our year four, five and six tree planters. Special thanks go to Mrs Fairclough, our wonderful parent helpers and also to Warkworth Rotary Club members who helped.
The grand finale to theme week Money, Money, Money was the "Matakana Magic Market Day". Lots of learning and loads of fun had by all. Tasty treats, funky innovations and good music... What a great idea!
The very first "Pizza with the Principal" was held on the 1st June with one student from each classroom (nominated by their teacher ) invited to enjoy pizza with Principal Darrel Goosen. Proudly sponsored by Rusty Pelican Pizzeria Restaurant, it was a very special way of acknowleding some magic students - "A Magic Student!, improvement in maths, having fantastic listening skills, focusing hard in class, for always being diligent, for caring helpful nature, for amazing maturity..."
Kiwiana? What does that word mean for you? We've been doing a lot of research on what Kiwiana really means to us in our Topic "Kiwiana". Year 1&2 will be visiting Sheepworld, Olympic athletic Jo Aleh is visiting Year 3&4 and Years 5&6 visited Motat. What an interesting study it has been! (more photos from Y1,2,3,4 to follow).
