A brief outline on some of the points in the report:
Students continue to achieve well. The majority of students achieve at or above national expectation in reading, writing and mathematics. As students progress through the school achievement in reading continues to improve, with most senior students continuing to achieve above National Standards. Parents receive clear reports on their children's progress and achievement in relation to the National Standards.
The inclusive culture of the school helps to ensure that students with special needs receive high quality education. There are good facilities, a well run programme and staff who are dedicated to ensuring that individual learning needs are met. Teachers know their students well and use this knowledge effectively. Students who need some extra support in their learning are clearly identified and additional programmes are provided to meet their needs.
Parent aspirations and teacher expectations for student engagement and achievement are high, and there is a culture in the school of celebrating and acknowledging student progress and achievement. As a result students are confident and motivated learners who feel well supported, and actively participate in learning in and out of the classroom. The majority of students discuss their classroom activities confidently, and can talk about the progress they are making. Teachers are now helping students to be able to identify what they need to do next to progress their learning.
A focus on reading, writing and mathematics in classroom programmes is complemented by well planned, integrated studies, including science, health and physical education, social science, technology and the arts. The school’s curriculum reflects the strong community interest in science, environmental education, and education outside the classroom, sport and creative activities.
